I am a Boy Scouts and I have years of scouting experience. This is really the only real activity im dedicated to but I have not achieved Eagle Scout yet. (should be getting it in a month after ED deadline for Upenn). The reason for achieving Eagle Scout so late is because my troop (club) was so inactive for months and through my leadership and others I was able to make it active again. WIll colleges think I was not dedicated enough? I will probably not look impressive will I? Should I even put this on my resume?

bump the bumpy post

If this is the only extracurricular you have then you should.

I really doubt admissions officers would dock you for only being a boy scout instead of an eagle scout. I sure as heck didn’t know that there was such a distinction, and fretting over this is trivial. Go ahead and list it on your resume.

If anything just talk about your Eagle Project. If you did a quality project then I doubt they’ll care you haven’t been awarded it yet. I hope you have some other EC’s than this, though. Boy Scouts is cool, but not enough to be your only extracurricular.
Good luck! :)

Eagle Scout is impressive. Definitely include it. Say that you expect to get it on X date. WITHOUT apologizing for the fact that you haven’t already received the award, you might want to include the fact that you helped resuscitate a moribund troop.

thanks guys,
yes i have leadership positions in other clubs but my main extracurricular is boy scouts.
This makes it a lot clear how I should portray the boy scouts on my extra curricular. I hope UPenn doesnt look down upon it!!!
