Extracurriculars

A question about exracurriculars for college application. My son is not involved in any school sports, nor has he joined any clubs in his school. But he is a very active kid--just not at things that the school offers. He is an avid snowboarder and waterskiier. He also snowmobiles and rides a dirtbike, and is a member of and volunteers with the local snowmobile club. Other than the snowmobile club, he has no organized involvement in his sports. Can he list these things as extracurriculars, or would they just be considered hobbies? He has also done some volunteering and has a summer job. Will colleges discount these activities because he does not compete at them--just does them for the enjoyment? In our area, there really isn't the opportunity to compete at these activities. Are they worth even putting on the applicaton?
TIA!

Yes, you can list them. Some kind of accomplishment to show your achievement in an activity is better, but you can still put them down even without any kind of organized involvement. :)
