I'm a rising junior and I really would like be accepted to one of the UCs. However, my extracurriculars aren't that great and I want to know what would help on a college application. I started volunteering at a nursing home recently but it's only once a week for 2 hours. I would like to volunteer at a hospital but my hours at work are random at times and I probably wouldn't have a routine in place. I volunteer at my church and I am really involved in my school's drama program. I want to make myself competitive so what extracurriculars do you think I could do?

As tacky as it is, if you do what you truly enjoy doing, you’ll have interesting experiences. If you have interesting experiences, you’ll have stuff to write about. Find things you enjoy, and pursue them. Think about what you want to study in the future and try to find opportunities in that field

I also had this same question…I wanted to add one thing…like me for example and I’m sure plenty vogue other kids my sport involves a lot of travel and practices to places across the country & with a job & AP classes the only other thing I have fit in is student government, but I know some people say that you you need to do ALOT of extracurricular…But how much is alot??? & what of you can’t take on that much???
