Extremely short question, not even a chance!

So I have the option of either applying ED to a local Guaranteed Medical School, which is in-state so it would cost me a whole heck of a lot less. It isn't for the "brightest" students, so obviously it would come easier to me than Ivy Leagues. However, I've always, always, always imagined going to one of three universities, Harvard, MIT, or Duke. MIT being the one that I love the most. Should I apply EA to these and skip out applying ED to my local school? Also, my GPA would give me more of a chance getting into my local school than these Ivy's. I, hopefully, will have a 3.78 UW and a 4.3 W. Advice?

bumpp? Anyone??

Are the other aspects of your application on par with those of students accepted to MIT, Duke, or Harvard? You would need to do some research to see if you have a realistic shot at making it. If you feel you do, then certainly apply EA. Also, prestige doesn’t equal quality education. If you can get substantial financial aid to your state school, I would advise you to seriously consider attending. Don’t get wrapped up into the rankings game, go wherever you feel most comfortable.

Harvard only has regular decision, Duke had ED and RD, MIT has EA and RD. Just so you know all three of those reach schools are not EA.

Teamam, thanks, I’m aware of that and my school advisor explained it to me, I’m looking to only apply to ONE school ED or a couple EA.

As far as my app being on par with other students, by senior year I’ll have taken around 16 AP’s (including the ones in Senior year) I have 450+ volutneer hours, written some neurochemistry articles that have been published in accredited journals, and I’m a runner at medical related events (10K, 15K, 20K is my highest so far). I’m in like 10 clubs, 9 of which I hold officer positions. I fluently speak five languages (adds culture?) and am on a communication level in two (turkish and spanish). I think that I am on par with EC’s, the only thing hindering me is my GPA, a 4.3 UW isn’t bad though.

I know that most of the kids that apply to these schools have the best of everything, and I’m really trying to juggle everything so that my app rocks in the end. Hopefully it will word out!
