Eye Waiver Appointments

navy2010,

I didn't follow through with my application at USMMA, I plan on majoring in math, engineering doesn't strike a chord with me. I talked with an admissions officer at USNA, they won't reconsider unless I can prove I don't have the DQ. So it looks like I'm probably going to USMA, but I am going see which ROTCs I'm offered other than Army and make a visit in April before I make my decision. Even if I do go to USMA I plan on going Marine Corps, regardless of if I have to be a 2 LT twice.

Actually I'm completely undecided right now. Was granted a waiver from AROTC today, and I'm not sure what I want. I really can't decide if I want a regular college or a service academy now.

somewhat off thread but... (and yes it's probably too late for this coming fall admissions if you haven’t applied yet) but I would take a look at VMI if you wanted a smaller college environment and Virginia Tech with their Corps of Cadets, somewhat different programs (VMI is closer to a service academy in terms of structure) while Virginia Tech is a much larger school with a strong and diverse curriculum as well as a very good and somewhat unique ROTC program with their school within a school approach in the Corps of Cadets, it's more than the typical ROTC program that you would find at most colleges but you're not as constrained as you would be at a service academy... good luck with your search

Awww. That means someone from my squad won't be coming to USNA with me. :( Erbium, have you heard from anyone else? I heard Austin got an appointment, but I haven't talked to him yet.

No, I haven't talked to Austin since back in November I think. I'll probably give him a call when I find out what Im doing. I'll talk to Chris on myspace and find out how he's doing.

And my BGO said he's trying to talk to the director of admissions for my area, trying to find the best way to approach admissions office and administration. Says it's a long shot for USNA to have BUMED take another look. But since I was told my chances were slim to none of getting a waiver for anywhere I'm going to stay optimistic. And hey, if I get it I have the ultimate DODMBERB success story
