Hi everybody, I need some help here.

I just got a letter in the mail that I have an (in bold) "guaranteed offer of appointment" to the Naval Academy as long as I get my DoD Med. Exam. done.

So does this mean that I need to go and get the physical done (and pass it) and I'm going to the academy?

Also, I have already taken the DoDMERB medical exam for my MCROTC scholarship and passed, can I just use that for the Naval Academy. And if yes, how can I go about doing it?

Thanks so much everybody!

My Brother is in 9th grade and has always dreamed of being a Navy fighter pilot, he wants to go to the Naval Academy any tips on how to make that happen.

yep that sounds like a letter of assurance. you are guaranteed an appointment as long as you pass the physical.

The academy should have that info already... its the same medical exam. Unless there is a DQ, but then there should be info about a waiver. Did you just have the exam recently? They may have issued the LOA before your record was complete w/ DODMERB. If not recently taken... I would call the academy and DODMERB and see whats up. Congratulations!

OOOOOOOOMMMMGGGGGGG;lksd;lfjasdjf ( I just got done running around my room screaming)

Wow, ok.

Thank you thank you.

You're sure(ish) right? Wow. Oh my god.

Haha I'm so happy!!

Yup :) If you passed DODMERB for MCROTC... you're all set!

I took it the end of summer of 2007. I believe that I would need to release the results to the Naval Academy, eh?

The USNA will request them from DODMERB on their own. It's just waiting now.

We called the Naval Acad's Admissions office and talked to a very nice young man. He called to request it that very day.

I'll go about contacting them ASAP. Thanks alot!

Question: About how long does it take for them to mail out the big package after you've completed everything? I got my LOA back in October, and USNA finally received and processed my principal nom from my MOC about 2 weeks ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i recieved my appointment about 2 weeks after having an LOa and 2 noms..but dont worry about it,,,although the waiting is annoying it wil al work it in the end..ull b fine

I recieved an LOA, then a week later it was updated on DoDMERB that I had an appointment on its way; now, a week later, I am still waiting for the appointment in the mail.

Took about 3 weeks for me, but that was because it was over Christmas, New Year, ect. I would guess another week, two tops....

mine was mailed two days after my status on DoDMERB was updated to "Offer Extended" and one day after i got the call from my MOC.

its not MCROTC, it is NROTC-Marine Option. and yes if you passed your DODMERB for that, then in theory you should be fine and receiving an appointment soon. Just call DODMERB. they may be slow getting their info to the academy so keep trying to reach them and find out the problem. Persistance is key.
