Timing of Appointments vs Waivers

Can any previous candidate families comment on the timing of when appointments come out, especially as they relate to a candidate who is on the waiver list?

My son currently is scholastically Q'd and has a Congressional Nomination (one to Zoomie U also) but unfortunately has a waiverable DQ from DODMERB on his record (Zoomie waived it already but nothing from his first choice USNA). I know that Appointments can happen anytime before now and I-day, but should we expect to have to "wait till the end" for USNA to get to him, i.e. "down in the waiver file pile"??? Or do they do waiver reviews all the time?

As we all have said before, the wait appears to be the toughest part of getting in! We're just trying to understand if we should sit pat until March, April, etc. or if he should continue to watch the mailbox like a hawk everyday....

Thanks for any experiences or suggestions.

Clarification in this area would be great: will all/most medical waivers from USNA be held and decided upon in March or so?
Dknightfam: A couple of us asked something along the same line about a week ago. Here's the thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=287106
BTW, the DODMERB website updates the waiver information faster than the post office gets it to you. Of course, this just means yet another thing to check obsessively...
