Eyebrow serums?

8 years ago I lost about 40% of my hair. I went on Spironolactone and am still on it. About 90% grew back. Hair grows in 3 cycles, so it definitely will take several weeks. Sounds like you and are started at the same time. I took a before pic, did you? I’ll put them up after 3 months.

If you are losing eyebrow hair on the outside, consider getting your thyroid checked. It’s a symptom of low thyroid.

I don’t recall ever having a problem with thyroid, though this does remind me it’s been a few years since I got it checked, thank you. I actually pluck any hairs that grow on the outer portion of my eyebrows, because they grow way too low and make my eyebrows slant down, but I’m trying to grow them in a place where hair has never grown before, to attempt to cover up my fading microblade, if that makes any sense!

I did not take a before pic, but it will be obvious to me if the hair grows, I think.

For those trying to grow eyebrows, I highly recommend you try tinting them too. I buy eyebrow tint on Amazon and it takes 5 minutes. I had way more eyebrow hairs than I realized, they were just getting lighter. Tinting makes them look way thicker, plus I use a bimataprost serum too.

Do you have one your recommend? Doo you use it every day? I was looking at the GrandeBrow Fill. I’m just a product of 1990s over waxing and plucking. lol

I have several friends that now have permanent eyebrows via tattoos. They look really good. I wouldn’t know that they were tattoos unless I knew. I have considered it because my eyebrows are getting so sparse.

I buy generic bimataprost from an online Canadian pharmacy.

I have done it twice, and I would never do it again! Both ladies who did the microblading were supposed to be the best of the best. Well. First time, it looked pretty good for a couple of years, and then it faded into a pinkish shade. Second time, a different lady said she could fix it and make it so much better. Looked good for awhile, and then the right side faded into looking blobby. Still kind of pink. They will tell you it’s going to fade, but they don’t know what it will fade into. So now I have to put eyebrow pencil on twice a day, and it never looks quite right. If I would have left it alone, I’d still have to use eyebrow pencil, but I wouldn’t have to cover blobs and pink. :rage:

What’s your dosage of spironolactone and do you check your sodium and creatinine often since it’s a diurectic?

I take 100 mg daily. Although since it’s been almost 8 years since my hair loss and all seems stable, I’ll do 50 one day and 100 the next. You really need to do 100 if you have loss, at a minimum. I don’t check any of the other stuff. This med is primarily used fur blood pressure. I have low blood pressure anyway, and it hasn’t done anything to it.

Losing my hair was traumatic. Imagine i’ll Be taking this the rest of my life, just for insurance purposes that it doesn’t t happen again.

Spironolactone is a potassium sparing diuretic and can lead to high potassium levels which can affect heart rhythms and have other effects. Eating high potassium foods lke bananas, nuts, avocados or using salt substitutes (which are high potassium) is to be avoided.

I’ve been on it 8 years now and my physicals seem to be fine. But I’ll ask about my potassium levels ne t time at at the doctor.

As far as eyebrow serums, I took my one month photo last week and don’t see a change at all. I’ll give it the full 14 weeks.

Have you doc give you a full panel bloodwork. It is a diurectic, check your sodium and creatinine as well. My friend was on it, 50mg and her sodium and creatinine were low several years after she started spironolactone. Her doc asked her to get off spironolactone and now she is looking at PRP for hair loss.

I started this thread 3 months ago and can’t find it. We spoke about the different serums and I started using one every night and it’s now been 3 months. I’m very pleased and will continue. I’m posting a pic of the eyebrows of my youth so you can see how upset I was about losing them. They were thinning horribly. Although I’ll never have them back, I’m comfortable with where they are now. I now just need to touch them up a bit with powder instead of filling them in so much.

I’m sure you’ll be able to tell which is which if not labeled correctly.

You look great! I’ve had similar results with Grande Brow and even though I can’t believe that I’m spending $75 every few months for a beauty product, I feel so much better when I look in the mirror.

Agree! It’s grandebrow. I’d like to continue to use nightly to see if some more scarce areas will grow. Do you have to continue nightly, or can it be less frequent?

I use it every other night (if I remember). At this point (6 months or so) it’s just for maintenance.

I don’t use much makeup (and none around the house). So beefing up he depleted aging eyebrows is appealing.

Last year I did start adding “gimme brow” tinted eyebrow gel for dressier outings. Ha, not sure it all really matters since I am always wearing. glasses or sunglasses… but it feels better.
