for top privates does the 3.0 uw also apply?

g0gat0rs23, depends on the UC. UCLA/UCB, no lower than C or C-, no more than 2 Cs. You have to write letter to explain why you have 3 Cs. For the rest of the other UCs, 3.0 weighted average. However, all this may change this year because of budget cut and such.

I have the same question as Mal77. the OP said the quarter not semester, and he still has another quarter to go, with the exams.

lol from the thread title i thought the OP was saying F*** senior year :D

You send in your final grade, it's usually semester.

F=fail,

Im sorry

IDK, pay the teacher to change the grade

Yeah, F will be automatic rejection. If it was like a D and you had a really good excuse.....maybe...........You'll have to look at community college.

F=doesn't equal community college

U can get to UCR, UCSC, UCM with one F.

but you need somewhat of an good explanation though.

^Not really, u can have super duper grades still, super SAT (above 1800) and still get with one F into UCR, USDC, and UCM.

a friend of mine did.

Yeah, you probably do need to explain, but they don't take it so much into heart like

UCLA, UCB=Fail, out, not even considered anymore

or

UCI, UCSB, UCD, UCSD=Yeah, right F? out, maybe we'll let u in, give us a good reason

UCR, UCSC, UCM=F? Okay, well, what super duper SAT, ACT, or GPA do u have to compensate?

An F? I can maybe understand a D, but an F?... not good at all. Especially not in your senior year. Colleges look for trends in a student's transcript and if you're doing worse instead of better..that doesn't say anything except that you are ill with senioritis.

An F will most likely get an acceptance rescinded anywhere. UCLA requires a 3.0 unweighted average (I believe). However, no D's or F's are allowed.

i got rejected so oh well
lol

That rejection still isn't going to solve your problem if you applied and got accepted to other UCs as they have similar rules as well.

A similar thing happened to a kid at my school, except that he got a D in a required course second semester senior year. UCs don't accept anything lower than a C, so his acceptance was rescinded.

Well I just e-mailed UCSB Admissions about this topic because I was admitted and they said that as long as I maintain a 3.0 overall my senior year that the F didn't matter so I'm covered there already. Also, Pepperdine accepted me even though they seen the F on my transcript so I'm also not worried about it with them. The only ones I'm worried about is UCSD and Cal, and I already e-mailed UCSD about it and I'm going to wait to hear back from Cal before I e-mail them. But I just want to prove a point that positivity is the best answer and negativity doesn't last long. Mainly all of the replies I received were negative, yet the real result turned out to be positive so I am happy with that! Everyone should keep an open positive mind these days! Have an awesome day all!!

agenalay -- make sure the F grade (which is the same as not having taken the course) does not mean you did not complete the a-g requirements for UC admission. If it does, then you should see about making it up in summer before school starts at UCSB.

P.S. there is a difference between negatitivy, and truthfulness. The truth is not positive or cheery sometimes.

DunninLA:
Why would AP Calculus be a required course? The only courses you need to complete for the "a-g" requirements is Algebra 1, Geometry & Algebra 2. Even Pre-Cal which I already passed isn't required. I don't know which school you go to or went to, but most schools here in Cali don't require anything past Algebra 2. I understand your willingness to help, but negativity is not needed. : ]

Congrats agenalay for things working out!

thank you very much any1can! and i like ur name lol. at least there are some positive ppl out there... lol. : ]
