I am currently a sophomore in high school and I am in the Cambridge program, which is basically a step up from AP and somewhat similar to IB, as well as a dual enrollment student. By the time I graduate I should have my AA degree finished through dual enrollment, however last semester I finished one of my dual enrollment classes with an F as a final grade. My unweighted GPA is still a 3.52 and I'm confident that I can raise it to at least a 3.8 by my senior year, and my weighted GPA is currently 4.06. I am planning to stay in Florida for college however, my fear is that colleges will see that I got an F and reject me. Other than that F, I get all A's and usually one or two B's for my final semester grades. I'd really just like to know my chances for colleges like UF, UM, or FSU. I am also a board member in AICE student union and I play varsity volleyball and softball. Thank you so much for your help!

I wouldn’t worry too much as you still have awhile to go. It seems like you really are a strong student, is there a reason for the F? If there is you could try explaining it. I really don’t think you will have trouble getting into any of the schools!

Yes, It was one of the first dual enrollment classes I was taking and I didn’t realize that one of the mid-semester tests had to be proctored so I missed the deadline and got a zero on the test. Usually tests are worth more than any other assignment, so missing that one test brought down my grade. I realize that it was my fault and I am definitely not making any excuses for it, I just don’t want that one little thing to have an impact on my whole academic future.

Can you retake the class where you got the F, perhaps over the summer?
