Has anybody from this forum ever denied a visa especially from third world countries? Once you are accepted by the college and financial part agreed upon by both parties, is getting the F1 visa smooth sailing the rest of the way?

Getting the visa should not be a problem when the financial issues are settled, when you do not have a criminal record AND if you can convince the consulate that you WANT TO and ARE GOING TO return to your home country once you complete your degree in the States.
Are you receiving financial aid from the colleges? If someone other than your family (e.g. the college or your government) is paying most or all of your tuition, you can apply for a J-1 visa instead of an F-1 visa. The J-1 visa, however, carries a restriction that you may not stay in or re-enter the States for two years once you complete your degree. That might help to convince the embassy that you do want to return to your home country if that is an issue.

juliuscesar, i hope this doesnt scare you but i heard of one case of an international student from an african country, who, despite getting financial aid from the college, had his visa denied by his home country.
