FA decisions are out

what did you guys get? please post gross income, # in family, and your awards.

for me...
gross income: $65,000

in family: 3

awards:
Eliot scholarship - $12,000
Stanfford Loans - subsidized $3,186; unsubsidized-$314

with national merit and workstudy, my family can consider WashU now.

sakuragirl,

Was this info mailed to you or was it on the website? BTW congradulatons!

this was mailed to me. i assumed everyone got theirs around this time too...

Sakura - I understand that you got yours in the mail, but is it also online at this time? I'm wondering if it is listed on the website for the Office of Student Financial Services. Thanks!

i'm not sure whether it's online or not... i never checked online, sorry.

congradulatons!!!! sakuragirl,

Could you please explain the "with national merit and workstudy" part? Your total FA per your post is about $15,500. What is the full price of WashU?

My D is junior now and should be a NMF. We are seriously considering WashU.

i know that if you are rewarded the one time $2,500 by the Nat. Merit Corporation, then WashU will match that amount for you all four years. if you are not awarded any scholarship, WashU will still grant you $2,000 a year for being finalist. i think it's a pretty nice deal:) work study did not actually show up on my FA. but i know that anyone can find work study...so i'm estimating to earn around $3000 from that.

gross income 65-70,000
number in family 4
award: 27,000 pure money

10,000 worth of loans and work study

Gross Income: 100,000
Number in family 5
1 other kid in college

Award: 26,600 Elliot Scholarship
7,500 in loans and work study

...And as I'm looking around the forum it feels dead tonight. then i realize it's friday night. I'm really not a loser! Just sick with the flu... :(

Remember a lot of students are at a Wash U scholars finalist weekend. There is also another one coming up, not sure when.

And yes the flu is going around, I'am just getting over it.

AGI (adjusted gross income): 133K
Number in family: 4

scholarship: 17K
Loans: 7500 (includes 2K work study)

This is doable for us. My D is torn btwn WU and another school (decision coming next week). But, from what I have been reading on the FA posts from this other school, doesn't seem as if they are as generous as WU seems to be.

wow seems like i didnt do very well compared to everyone else...

Gross Income: just over 100,000
Loans: $5500
Work Study: $2000

I am not very happy right now

Gross income 135K
loans $5500
work study $2000

I guess I'm not going here. UFlorida's better anyway

sakura do you plan to go to grad school? How can you pay half your family's groos income with other kids?

there are no other kids in my family actually. i plan to attend medical school. i've been offered acceptance into my state school's medical school arleady... i'm not exactly sure of what to do.

gross income- 188,000

in family- 6 (one other kid in college)

Eliot Scholarship- $21,400
Work study- $2000
Perkins Loan- $2000
Stafford Loan- $3500

This is great, throw in NMF scholarship and this will be really affordable for my family. It's a relief to know that I'll be able to go to such a great school without having to go completely broke.

question: I was accepted into the January Program... my FA offer includes a 14K Eliot Scholarship... Will I receive that full amount or only half since I will not be there for the entire year?

We received our FA package from our state school and as expected, didn't qualify for any aid (although, D did receive Prez. scholoarship for $4K over 4 yrs). However, COA at state school is just a couple, maybe three thousand less per year than what our (parents') share at WU would be.

I didn't read my FA offer close enough: the 14K Eliot scholarship is for the spring semester... so, for the following year, how much aid should I expect?

ryno: I think you should contact WU's FA office. I have a few questions to ask of them regarding our package. You should get your info straight from the horses mouth. I don't think any of us on CC can answer your questions as accuratley as the school itself. Good Luck and congrats!
