FA packages

2010-2011 Financial Aid Packages will be going out the week of March 29, 2010.
Anyone have any thoughts on Marist FA? Good, bad, in-between?

anyone get their package??? its the week of and nothing here…

Nothing here in Massachusetts either.

Nothing in Ct

think we will get them before admitted students weekend?? (april 10-11) Geesh.

They are up online!!! Also said they were mailed.

We did you see them? I checked foxmail and the admissions page log-in.

you need to go thru mymarist and use your childs marist.edu login info. and to answer your original question in this thread- I’m not impressed. :(

Thank you, found it. They weren’t very generous 4 years ago, but they were more so this time with similar stats with my daughters. They received a 10.000 scholarship early on and then a grant today. The difference I think is that my son was the only one in college and they told me they count him in grad school, now, so it’s 3 in college.
For parents that have mulitples, they are more generous that way.

Financial Aid package arrived in the mail today, we’re in MA:)

@Debruns, Im glad you found it, and were pleased! 3 in college? they better have helped you out! My D graduated Wesleyan U last May and is going to Med School, and S wants Marist so bad, they gave $9K
and thats it. He was accepted at all 6 schools he applied to and rec’d more at all. Similar tuitions. The next lowest award was $13k. we’re bummed. Happy Easter?!
:)

I’m sorry, there is no rhyme and reason sometimes. D2 loved Holy Cross and they gave her the worst package (well not worst, but close) They use a method that had us paying over 1000 more than the fafsa but since they don’t give merit, it was less than most and some colleges using full need, still gave us 2,000-3,000 more.
I have a feeling they wont listen to any other offers, but I might try. She loves Jesuit colleges and is the most religious of the group, plus the academics are very good.

Good Luck to you! S rec’d very generous packages from both Jesuit schools he was accepted- Fairfield, and U. Scranton. He loooves Marist. Oh well. we will see. Holy Cross is a good school, i wish you and Ds successful & happy outcomes!

Debruns…

Marist was on the radar for my DD. I called asking if they would consider upping their merit award to match other packages and the answer was an absolute YES. I was told to make copies of the letters and to mail them to someone – I forget his name. (Or you could bring them if you go to back for another visit).

My call was made WELL before receiving the Marist package, and I was clear on the phone that the comparison school was stronger, cost less before aid, and was more generous in their package (as well as the fact that DD was already receiving their top listed award of $12K/year).

I suggest calling ANY schools on your girls list and seeing if they will negotiate. Not all of DD choices would.

Good luck!

I will call HC on Monday (although I know they will be innudated with calls/emails) and see, it’s hard being at work, but I will fit it in. My only worry with them is they don’t give merit, only athletic scholarships, so showing merit/need awards might not mean anything even if they go over need.

EastCoastMom: I did just that and they said they never match awards, and altho they were the least$$ we got, they did not up it one penny. :(

visit to marist and talk with alum went very well. D loves the campus etc. will apply in fall. first to go to college in the family. thoughts on aid anyone?
