If you’re set on Barnard, make sure to join the existing facebook group and pick up some apparel :D

SO excited for the over night in April. Who’s going?!

I really want to go! I hope I can get off work....

I'm going (I hope)!!! My mom really wants me to go to the overnight, and so do I! Even though I live in GA, we have an apartment in Greenwich village so my parents will be there, too, for the open house. My dad was like, "there is no way we are letting her go off to NYC alone." My mom responded, "Honey, we have an apartment there, remember?" It was a funny, old-dad sort of moment.

Congrats to those of you who (evidently) now know you will get the big envelope later today or tomorrow!

My d's suite in Plimpton will be hosting a couple of young ladies for the overnight, so maybe you will get to stay with her!

I will be hosting two lovely ladies in April for the overnight!

The overnight is really a lot fun :)

hey, would it be weird for an ED admitted student to do an overnight?
I'm trying to decide whether to or not... I think it'd be fun and nice to see more of what barnard will be like but wouldn't want to feel weird about being an ED student?

I don't think that would be "weird" at all! The point is to familiarize yourself with the school, sit in on a class, experience life in one of the residence halls, etc. Enjoy it!

I was accepted last year ED and it wasn't weird at all during the overnight. In fact, a good portion of the people I met were also accepted ED.

When do we get our email addresses so that we can join the network on facebook? don't you need an email address to join the facebook network?

Yeah. I think they give out e-mails sometime in May, once they've established an incoming class.

No, you don't need a COLLEGE e-mail address to join (that is a fairly recent development).

As for WHEN: I recall that my d was pretty excited about getting her e-mail address so she could join....that was when only college students at participating schools could join. However, she did not get hers until later in the summer. Oh, and you will get a Barnard and a Columbia e-mail address and it's the Columbia one you will use for Facebook. Facebook does not "recognize" Barnard...

You don't need a college e-mail to join facebook, but you do need a college e-mail to join your school's network.

Although Facebook does not recognize Barnard as an institution, it will accept a Barnard email address. I joined Facebook as a Barnard student last year before I got my Columbia email address without any problems.

The thing that I don't like about Facebook is that you can represent Barnard in every other capacity except when it comes to the network that you belong to. I think we all should get together and complain about that....
