Hello CC,
My DD is freaking out because she just re-read her writing supplements for a couple of ivies, and realized she made a mistake. She was writing about her relative in one of them and he is in his 80s. She mentioned this and stated that he was a “WWII veteran” when she meant Korean war. If the reader thinks about her mistake, she basically stated that her relative was a 10 year old soldier. As a parent I am trying to calm her down, but she is worried that it is the end for her as she was not able to correct herself sooner. Since decisions are coming out next week, she fears it is already too late. Is this a huge deal, or might adcom overlook it/assume it was a mistake?
Haha, I don’t know why, but I died at “10 year old soldier.” Considering that decisions are coming out next week, there’s not much you can do now.
I suggest that you guys just relax and hope for the best. Such trivial mistakes are not going to skew your chances of admission. Good luck!
For other readers, because this post is now past admissions decisions, no, adcoms won’t care about that.
2016 - 89 (If she said 80’s and not a specific 80’s age) = 1927
1945 - 1927 = 18
It’s not unheard of for under 18 to have fought in the war (some lied about their age).
2016 - 80 (youngest possible limit) = 1936
1953 (Basically end of korean war) - 1936 = 17
Either way, nothing you can do about it now.
