factors for scholarship

I am in the Top 10%, so I can get into the business school but as for scholarships, are the essays a factor? if they are I would wait & try 2 make them perfect; if not, I will just send in my essays (they are good in my opinion) - Cuz isn't it better 2 send in early?

You do know there is a separate scholarship app, right?

YES but do the essays count toward scholarships?

yeah i'm pretty sure they do because they told me the third essay was optional if you were automatically accepted, but recommended if you are going to try for scholarships

Yes- essays definitely matter. For some of the larger, non-automatic scholarships, essays could make the difference between getting it or not (although the ones that are purely score based won't be influenced). You should send it in early AND have good essays. :-)

Wow, I didn't know that...I guess I will tune my essay til it becomes perfect :P

good! mine made $24,000 difference for me.

Wow, so how much did A&M offer you overall based on ur stats (I presume u are @ tamu?) and I am guessing ur a ntl merit?

National Merit will get you around 85K.

Yep, I'm at A&M! Mine was right around $70,000 from TAMU, but they've added another $24,000 scholarship since I was applying and I wasn't eligible for any of the departmental ones, so you can definitely get more than I did (I was Ntl Merit). Also, if you are Ntl Hispanic, they have special new scholarships for that, too.

Just make sure you send in your scholarship app. by the December deadline. It does not matter how early you send it, just as long as it makes it by Dec. 1. And yes, essays do matter.

aight, will do that!
btw if u weren't a NM, do u still have a good chance of getting big scholarships??

okay so I got a letter after my acceptance letter about scholarships I was offered, this is not all the scholarships they have right? There are more that they give out after December 1 right? or am I just going to get the ones already offered? (if I have a chance)

wat scholarship were u offered?

It didn't say specifically

I just found out about the new travel stipend- it is $1,000 for use traveling and interviewing for jobs/grad school your senior year. I sure could have used that!

do they tell you how much scholarship you can get after your accepted?

No, it takes a while. Some of them can trickle in. I believe there is a scholarship status page you can access with your UIN. The Keys to Aggieland scholarship ($1,000) that my S received, I believe, did not show up until around April.

where is that page?
