Hello, a few of my friends told me that they received a letter from FAFSA addressed to their parents saying that their PIN, address, DoB, etc, was been confirmed with the Department of Education or something to that effect. They received it about three weeks after they first filed. Did everyone receive that letter? I don't remember seeing such a thing.

Also, does anyone know if only it's the first time you fill out a FAFSA they send you a letter or is it every time? And it's not an email, a physical letter.

Thanks.

I seem to remember getting one but it was only when we first created the PIN, definitely not every year.

ditto. I know we got a thing (not really a letter, just a little form) in the mail when we first applied for PINS. I know we got them for one kid and the parent. Don’t recall getting them for the subsequent 2 PINS.

And just the one time for those 2. Not every year.

Ok, thanks. Does anyone know if FAFSA sends any other letters out? I live in a area where the mail is quite unreliable and I don’t want them sending anything to my house and me not getting it. I was thinking about putting a PO box for line #4, the Permanent Mailing Address.

Over several years and 3 students filing FAFSA, I have never received mail from FAFSA other than the little form with the PIN #s. Have received emails. Also do receive periodic letters relating to federal student loans (these are not from FAFSA of course, butthe unreliable mail issued could be an issue here).
