FAFSA/Financial Aid Dealine Questions

I started back to school this Fall semester, I signed up a little late (a few weeks before classes started), but the FAFSA was able to go through and I was awarded some Pell Grant. I had my Award Letter in my e-mail which I must have deleted at some point, so I can’t look on that for verification right no. I assume when we were quickly going through the process the school automatically accepted the grant to pay for my tuition so I wouldn’t be dropped.

There’s still about 6 weeks left of classes and I’m starting to feel like I should take out a portion of federal loans to help with the rest of expenses after tuition and books. We never discussed any loans, just tried to get it taken care of to begin classes. I assume all I need to do is fill out a loan application and give it to FA at the school? Is it too late or is there still time? I read up on my school that for federal loans have to submit the application form and it’s processed within 3 days, does that mean I still have time to have the loan go in for the Fall semester or would it just go to the Spring semester?

FAFSA is the application form. Go to your financial aid page of your portal. The loans should be there and you need to accept or decline them. If not, just go to the FA office and they can help you. You will need to do the loan counseling and complete the promissory note. Again, they can help you.

Thanks, that’s the thing, my financial aid page only shows the grant and its accepted. It doesn’t show anything else, nothing declined. I’m just wondering if it’s possible to apply for the federal loans mid semester.

I’ve had loans within the past 10 years so I’ve already done them.

Go to your financial aid office tomorrow and tell them you would like to have the Direct Loan. They will tell you what to do.

You DELETED your award letter??

Are you at a community college? Not all community colleges participate in the loan program. Make sure that your school does. Go to your school’s financial aid office
