FAFSA Mess (Am I eligible or not)

I am a Russian immigrant (lived in California for 13 years now) and I've been researching the FAFSA because my family's income will definitely qualify for a partial if not full ride but I'm having problems figuring out whether we're eligible or not.

I have an H4 (and my parents, I think, have H1s). We have already filed our I-485 and we're waiting now for our green card (considering my family's past dealings with immigration we do not know when we will receive it) and I have already received my Employment Authorization Permit so we are official on an Adjustment of Status.

Now, does that count for eligibility for FAFSA or not? I have searched Google but I am getting mixed answers all the time. I still have quite a while for FAFSA (graduating high school in 2010) but if I do not receive the Green Card by college acceptance deadlines, I will need to look at other options such as UK, NZ, and Russia. If however I'm already eligible I won't have that whole problem

Federal student aid requires you to have a green card. This site may be helpful to you:
