FAFSA paper signature

My mom’s is trying to sign FAFSA and her FSA ID page shows a status “pending”. If she submits FAFSA without signing electronically, by printing and signing a paper, will it be a problem?

Paper signatures take a long time to process. If she can sign by electronic signature, that is what she should do. The pending status should be gone in a day or two.

If the FAFSA is signed and submitted, but the FSA ID status is still pending, is this considered complete?

Your mom should, have gotten her FSA ID almost immediately when she applied.

As long as there is nothing wrong other than having to wait for the signature to be approved, it will be considered complete. The date submitted will most likely be the date you submitted it (even though the signature was still awaiting approval) - but it would be cool if you’d verify the “processed” date once it’s completed - let us know!

The “processed” date is different from “submitted”. Submitted is 1/1/2017. Processed is 1/3/2017.

One of the schools on my list was a last-minute decision to apply, and the FAFSA priority deadline was the same as the school application date - Jan 1st. So I submitted FAFSA immediately after I clicked “submit” on my common app. Does it mean that I missed the deadline for this school? Or am I still on time? It makes sense that the school should be accepting FA submissions as long as they are accepting applications for enrollment? It doesn’t make sense otherwise…

The rest of the schools on my list are still accepting FAFSA until Feb 1st…

Schools will accept FAFSA until June 2018. Schools set a deadline for priority financial aid, but they will still process the FAFSA and grant loans and Pell grants to all students who qualify. The school may run out of funds for work study funds, Perkins loans, SEOG and its own financial aid funds, and award that money to those who file by the priority deadline first, and then to others who apply in the order they receive the applications after the priority date.
