My daughter is a Senior in HS, and will be a Freshman in College in the Fall of 2010. We have just begun the process of College admissions, Scholarships, etc. We will also be submitting the FAFSA for her. My question: Due to a past injury to my husband, it looks like I need to go back to school for one more year to finish my schooling and get full time work in another field. I was thinking of applying for the FAFSA, due to our dimishing income, but I don't want to jeopardize her ability to get all the need based aid out there. Will applying for a FAFSA for me affect her FAFSA next year?

No it won’t.

No, a parent doesn’t count as a household member attending college on the student’s FAFSA. However, if you’re both in school during the same aid year, you can add her to the number in college on your FAFSA which will result in a lower EFC for you.

Thanks for your responses! I have some thinking to do =)
