My mother is a widow.
Later on, she met my father(a different man) and my parents had me. They didn't marry. My dad will sleep a few nights a week at his house, and the rest at our house. They're not technically dating each other, or anyone, but they're raising me together I guess.

Are they considered widowed, divorced, or single? I'm so confused

Unless you live in a common law state, they are single since they did not marry and are not married to anyone right now. For FAFSA purposes, you mother is the custodial parent and only her assets and income are counted there. If your Dad pays child support or other expenses to her, they should be included in the FAFSA.

If you apply to schools that use PROFILE, most will want the financials from both parents whether ever married or not.

Thank you for clearing that up!
