<p>Ok. My parents divorced, and my dad remarried (I live with him). However, my stepmom passed away. So I'm having difficulty answering some financial questions. Here's one for example:</p>

<p>Family Status
"Parents", "Mother", "Father" refer to natural and adoptive parents, stepparents, and legal guardians in the items below.</p>

<p>(Option 1) My parents are divorced or separated, and I live with my father (who has not remarried).</p>

<p>(Option 2) I live with my father who is single (never married to mother) or widowed.</p>

<p>Any ideas?</p>

<p>Considering your non-custodial parent is sometimes considered in the financial aid process, I’m going to lean towards divorced. I’d call FAFSA on this one though.</p>
