Fafsa Pin

I am just starting to get my feet wet with DS's Financial Aid process. Regarding the PIN for FAFSA, who needs to get a PIN - the student, father, mother, all?

For anyone that needs to get the PIN, we put in that person's SSN, DOB etc., right? (as opposed to always entering student's SSN, DOB ).

Thanks!

The student and one parent (the one who will be "signing" the fafsa) must have a PIN. Both need to apply separately for their PINs; so the first time you apply, it will be for the student (student's infor entered), and the second time, for the parent (parent's info entered).

I wouldn't delay applying for PINs; we had to have ours sent via snail mail (took about a week-the email link didn't work when we tried to have the PIN sent via email).

We did ours via website and email, DD's first and then mine (mom). We got both pins within 32 hrs. of requesting. Make sure you get one in mother's or father's name so one of you can electronically sign.
