fafsa problem

hello guys,

i got accepted yesterday in-state RD. however, i got an e-mail this morning saying:

"The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid has received your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and/or PROFILE. Additional information is needed to complete your application and determine your eligibility for financial aid. Until this information is submitted, your application will not be processed. Please be aware that financial aid resources are limited and will be awarded to the extent they are available.

To review the additional required information:

Step 1:Visit the webpage My.UNC.edu and Sign Inl.

Step 2:Signing into the My.UNC.edu requires a University of North Carolina ONYEN identification and password. If you have not already created your UNC ONYEN, visit onyen.unc.edu and follow the instructions to "Create an ONYEN". Note that all emails to you from the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid will be sent to your official UNC ONYEN email address. It is your responsibility to monitor this email address.

Step 3:From your MyUNC homepage, navigate to the ConnectCarolina Student Center using the provided link you see.

Step 4:Once within your personal Student Center, locate the section entitled "Finances." This section will include a sub-category for Financial Aid. Please select "Financial Aid To Do List" and review the To Do Items for the appropriate Aid Year.

Please note: Until your application is complete, the "View Financial Aid" link will not provide further information regarding your financial aid award. Your aid eligibility and potential award will be determined only after you have submitted the information requested in the To Do List."

I know for a fact that i submitted my FAFSA in February and have a confirmation number. Did they just not connect my FAFSA app to my connect carolina account? did i lose priority? did anyone else get this? please help i might not attend because of this now. Thanks for the help

Call them on Monday and see if they can explain. Sounds like they need some info that you may be able to provide on the telephone. The sooner you find out exactly what is needed the better off you are.

Same thing happened to us. My son found out Friday night that he was accepted to UNC (he’s OOS) and received an email about the missing FAFSA on Saturday morning. I checked our FAFSA records, both online and my printed receipt, and it was processed on January 30 with UNC Chapel Hill listed as a recipient (we used the correct college code). We emailed the financial aid office explaining all this and I will call them on Monday. Very frustrating.

Have you guys called? The same problem happened to me and I’ll be calling them today.

I did make an update to my FAFSA a few days before and I removed UNC from the FAFSA at that time, but they still should have had the information that I submitted in February.

Is your FAFSA selected for review ? If so you will need to send requsted information to all universities you sent FAFSA to.

I spoke with the financial aid office this morning. They said that they have my son’s FAFSA on file, but the system wasn’t updated yet. Apparently, they don’t open a file for a student until he/she is accepted so our completed FAFSA has yet to be imported to my son’s file. The other schools we applied to opened a financial aid file for my son during the application process. I’d still call UNC to make sure they have your FAFSA on record. Good luck.

Ah, ok, thanks! I’ll call and make sure this is the case.
