This may sound strange, but if we have to have the FAFSA in by February 15, does that mean Son will have an answer by February 15?

Wow, someone else from Jackson.....

No, it doesn't. I was concerned that my FAFSA information had been received because WA didn't say anything about financial aid forms being received. When I called to check I was told that they can't pull the FAFSA info up until you're accepted and that if it's not by the 15th they'll pull it up whenever you are. She led me to believe that perhaps those that don't know by the 15th are in a little worse shape for financial aid. I'm only hoping that our in-state status will be helpful there.

i have already been accepted and called yesterday because i submitted my fafsa on january 7 and when i check wolverine access it only shows that they have recieved my profile. the person i talked to in financial aid said that they havent even downloaded them yet and they wont look at the fafsa until later. i think they usually go by the profile anyways because it is more detailed

See, as a person who's still waiting for a decision, even my Profile doesn't show up. I filled that in back in October. From what the financial aid officer said, if you've not been accepted they don't download any of the information. Maybe that's not correct, but I can't imagine another reason why a Profile filled out in October still isn't being worked on.

If I am an OOS student and have a really low EFC, wil I be screwed over in the financial aid package?

Okay...this sounds stupid...so does that mean that Michigan will still accept the CC Profile and FAFSA after the deadline? silly parents who only just filed their taxes.

collegebound...do you mean LITERALLY a low EFC? Because that would imply that you need more aid.

where are you guys getting the date of Feb. 15. I thought it was April 30.

Yes, but if you read down lower on that page (where it lists when you should be doing these things) both the CSS Profile and FAFSA are supposed to be done by Feb 15th. And I was told this would be when they actually started considering them. And as many people here will point out, they run out of money long before the last minute deadlines.
