FAFSA Signature Page Conspiracy...

I received my financial aid info for UC Berkeley and Rice University as well as some other places a few while ago...
which said that the FAFSA has not yet been completed...
Here's what happened

1) I completed my FAFSA in February. My mother applied for an electronic PIN, twice, but she received an email notification both times that her information did not match. Considering that my family hasn't been in the States for a long time, and my mother is not an american citizen, yet she has a social security number (I do not know exactly how and why...), I assumed that something happened such as her SSN became deactivated.

2) After Waiting for a while for the FAFSA to be processed, I made corrections later to add more universities and colleges.

3) I sent my mother's Signature page by mail after the second correction.

4) The schools that I listed for the second FAFSA received the FAFSA and gave me financial aid offers.

5) The schools in my first FAFSA (most of the major schools I applied to... my top choices..) have told me that they have not received my FAFSA or it has not been copmlete due to the lack of a signature page...

6) I made another correction to my FAFSA so that the third & fourth list contains these top choices that did not receive my FAFSA last thursday/friday.

7) My inbox is still empty and I am getting very anxious/nervous as well as upset as I fear I might not get considered priority...

So, I did not know that if I send in the signature page after a second FAFSA, the first one would not be referred with it... Would the universities understand if I called them and somehow be willing/able to give me a priority consideration as well? Or do I pretty much have to wait and wait? :(

As a US citizen living in Canada, and as a son of a family with some financial difficulaties..., This is a big issue for me...
I really worked hard on my university applications, and I don't want my financial status hinder me from attending an amazing program.
Please Help...

Pick up the telephone and call the universities to ask if they can help you sort things out.

Good luck!

Your mother may have an taxpayer number that she can used for work (and may even be able to file taxes) but it is nto a ss #. If she does nto have a ssn, make sure you go in to correct the fafsa and for your mother put all 000000000
(all 0’s) the social security # field.

You can submit with your pin, but your mom will have to sign the signature page and you will have to mail it to FAFSA for processing.

Everytime you update or make changes to the FAFSA you have to send in a new signature page. So if you made changes after you sent in the second signature page, those updates will not be made until you send in another signature page since your mother cannot get a pin.

This basically means if you submit changes 10 different times, you will have to submit 10 signed signature pages signed by your mom to FAFSA in order for those changes to be processed.

I know it sounds crazy but this is how the process works

I don’t think it sounds crazy. Everytime you make a correction you basically have a new version of your FAFSA and the signatures are required to verify the truth of the information on the new version.
