Fafsa

I'm not used to knowing the deadlines for things without my high school telling me about them...and as a freshman in college, I no longer have that privilege.
When do I have to start filling out the FAFSA for my sophomore year?
I tried checking the deadlines on the FAFSA website, but it only gave them until the 2012-2013 year, and I already did that last year since I am currently receiving aid.
I remember filling them out around December time last year so I'm a bit worried that I'm late this time around and since I know that aid is based on a first come first serve basis, it's vital that I get it in on time.
Any information on this (and other good financial aid/scholarship opportunities) is REALLY appreciated!

I think by “first come first serve” basis they just mean don’t turn it in late past their priority deadline… Someone correct me on this if I’m incorrect! Cause I remember filling them in a few days before the deadline last year. It’s due March 31st I believe… There’s usually a huge flashy sign reminding you the month of at the student center outside on that big screen across from the study abroad center. But go ahead and fill it out now if you’d like. More power to you! I always liked to wait till my parents were done with their tax returns before filling them out.

The priority deadline for filing the FAFSA is March 2nd. And I think that if you’re already an undergraduate who’s filed before, you just need to fill out some kind of renewal form.

Click on “Getting Started/Before You Apply,” and there should be a link about reapplying.

I need to make a correction for my fafsa I just submitted. I wrote off campus, when apparently VDC is considered living on campus. How can I do this? It says to click make a correction but when I do it doesnt allow me to access my application.
Also, it asked if I want to skip questions about my/my parents income and assets. I dont have any income and my parents dont have any assets. Was it right to click that I wanted to skip it?
Also, by skipping it, does it lessen my chances of getting more aid?
Thank you!

I don’t think the off campus/on campus distinction is too big of a deal, but you should be able to make corrections to your FAFSA online. If you just submitted your FAFSA today, then you might have to wait for it to process first before you are allowed to make corrections, it’s usually a few days.

You can skip questions about your income & your parents income/assets if they don’t have any. But you may be selected for verification by UCI after they review your FAFSA. This happened to me before and all I had to do was send in some additional documents, they didn’t ask for them until late spring/early summer though if I recall correctly. For right now, just complete your FAFSA and check that off your list.

I don’t think skipping questions lessens your chance of getting aid. If your parents actually don’t have income/assets then you should probably qualify for more aid but then again I don’t know your entire situation and I’m not a fortune-teller.
