Failed a class but transferring?

Hello! I’m a great student. Through high school, I never failed a class and had high SAT scores. Last trimester (my college does trimesters not semesters), I was on Dean’s List and had 3.7 GPA. This trimester I’m doing similarly well in all my classes except for one. I decided to take a night class, French, for fun. It’s not required and it’s not a major class. I only took it for the love of world languages. The issue is that I missed two classes due to major blizzards and two classes due to family emergencies. I tried to email her the work before the due date but she told me she doesn’t accept email submissions. There are only 10 weeks of the class and it ends next week. Because of this I have a 52 in the class and my professor does not offer extra credit. Therefore, I will most likely fail the class. I plan to transfer in the fall (I’ve been accepted already to one school and I am waiting on the rest). How do you think this will affect me? The schools aren’t top tier–University of Hartford, Wheelock, Lesley and Emmanuel. I really need some advice since I am stressing over this.

Have you made an appointment with this specific professor? Most if not all professors have policy exceptions for cases of blizzards and family emergencies. If you haven’t already, you need to explain to this teacher your extenuating circumstances, or else she will think you are lazy.

As for the potential failing effect, it shouldn’t be a major issue. If you don’t get your problem resolved with the professor, you can explain your circumstances to the college you transfer to when you submit an updated transcript.
