Failed Ap human geography exam

So i was a freshmen in high school and i took AP Human Geography. I averaged about a 97% in that class. However, I got a 2 on the exam which i was shocked to see. Even my friends were shocked to see it. I plan on going to a good college. Should i ask for a rescore? Should i retake the exam? Will this negatively effect me when trying to get into a good college?

You hope to go to a good college. Unless your good college has an auto-admit policy that includes you, nobody should plan on attending one, although likely you will.

Now back to your question. If you have the money, you can request a rescore, but odds are that your score will remain unchanged. Move on. Do not retake the test. The score will not impact your admissions chances; simply don’t report the score on the application.

@skieurope ok thank you and Yes I meant “hope” sorry for being ignorant

@Yooo123 , don’t stress about it. It won’t keep you out of a good school. By the way - the previous poster was incorrect in objecting to your English, there is nothing inherently wrong in saying you plan on going to a good school. People have goals, they make plans to get them to their goals. Sometimes those plans don’t work out but it’s always good to plan and not just hope, which is a passive activity. You can continue with your plan but you might want to look at why you got such a low score on the test when you did so well in class. If your school isn’t holding you to high academic standards it might indeed spoil your plans.

I got a 3 on it freshman year and I just am not going to report that score to colleges that don’t give credit for a 3. Just don’t report your score. It will not affect your admissions.

Fret not…colleges are much more concerned about your grades in those classes as opposed to the AP tests.

Why is that?

  1. Doing well in a class shows you can learn over the year and work hard over a period of time. That is what they want in college.
  2. Not all HS have many APs.
  3. Many people take AP tests senior year which is too late for admissions

For example, Stanford says:
Students currently enrolled in AP courses are not required to submit AP scores as part of our admission process. AP scores that are reported are acknowledged but rarely play a significant role in the evaluation of an application. Grades earned over the course of a term, or a year, and evaluations from instructors who can comment on classroom engagement provide us with the most detailed insight into a student’s readiness for the academic rigors of Stanford.

Where does this leave you?

  1. It tells you that you cannot place out of those classes in college…you will need to take them in college like many many other people do.
  2. Do not self-report your scores
