Failed chemistry 2 three times

Hi all, I failed chemistry II three times. the third time I had some hope but the professor was old and about to retire and basically failed more than half of the class. I should’ve withdraw but for some reason I thought he would curve but what happened already happened. I’m just trying to go for DPT school and chemistry is required, I’m quite confident I can pass it the 4th time. My classmate said that I can appeal but most likely I won’t be able to take it the fourth time. Should I transfer to another college to take this course? I don’t know my options anymore and my college’s advisors are not very helpful, I have talked to 3 of them and none of them was able to advise other than asking me to change my major when I told them I’m trying to get to the DPT school. I’m trying to get into LIU’s DPT program, I already passed all other prereqs I just need to pass this and move on to physics afterwards. Should I transfer to another school for this class?

DPT programs are generally quite selective. I imagine that failing chemistry three times will make it extremely tough to gain entrance into a DPT program even if you eventually can pass the class.

You could try taking chemistry again somewhere else. But before you do that, you need to come up with a plan for studying. Failing one time happens a lot. Failing a second time does happen occasionally. But failing a third time looks like something much more than a soon-to-retire professor.

What else is going on that you haven’t been able to master this material?

LIU requires a math-science GPA of at least a 3.0. Before taking the course somewhere else, you probably should inquire whether they or other DPT programs allow grade replacement, or will they average all of your F’s into the math-science GPA.

HappyMom is correct. Failing Gen Chem a third time is on you. The fact that you are blaming the prof – 'failed more than half the class – just shows that you are not owning it.

Are you at a community college or four-year school? If the latter, could you take at a cc?
