What happens if I fail first semester of AP Chem?

So basically I’m going to fail AP Chem as a junior and was wondering a couple things.

  1. Will I still be an AP Chem next semester? I actually enjoy the class and I know I didn't put my best effort forward but I'm confident I could pass next semester as long as I focus and try harder and yes I regret my lack of effort this semester.
  2. Will I have to go to credit recovery? My school requires 3 years of science to graduate and I'm taking a science next year but if I were to want to major in engineering and I wanted to go to a college that requires 4 years of science will that be an issue? Obviously I won't make it to any competitive engineering schools but I'm still very interested in this field.

Thanks in advance for any and all answers!

Hi, my friend got the same situation as you. You can try to ask your guidance counselor to see if your school allow transfer credits from private online courses, you can try to retake it then. Cuz D is consider as a failing grade, and it will not look good in your transcript. In fact, its rly gonna hurt you as an applicant.

Staying in AP chem is up to your school. Talk to your teacher and GC.

Be sure you have identified areas where you can improve and then do your best to get that grade up.
