Call each school and let them know. I don’t know if you will have your admission rescinded but its possible–especially since its a major pre-req. Even if you tell them you’re going to retake it in the spring, there still may be some doubt there. Good luck though.

Look, I’m sure school’s only a part of who you are. So don’t kill yourself over a school problem.

If you feel you can’t sleep until you figure out your options, that’s normal. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t at least try to relax somehow.

Just be ready to call the schools to tell them what happened. Don’t just call and ask if you’ll be rescinded. If they asked why you failed the class, be sure that you’re ready with a good reason!

You’re screwed for LA and CAL. Once they find out you failed a math class and you’re a math major it’s over. I had a friend who was in the exact situation you are in and he wound up getting into UCR and UC Merced. He went to UCR. You can’t fail a community college liner algebra class and expect to get into CAL/UCLA. Good luck but I think you’re pretty much screwed.

I don’t know how much logistical help I can be, but I feel compelled to tell the OP that whatever happens, to stay postitive.
I understand you’re feeling overwhelmed, and I can completely sympathize with you.
It sounds like you’re a hard worker and truly do care about your grades, so any school would be lucky to have you.

Maybe there were extenuating circumstances, but if you failed a linear algebra class, being a math major may not be a very rewarding path. You’ll be taking upper divs that are worlds apart in magnitude of difficulty from LA and it won’t just be one at a time.

chances are some of your apps will get rescinded best thing to do is to let all the schools know asap. i had this happen to me last year, get all your options together and see which schools will still take you

Like others said, the best thing to do in your situation is to contact each of the schools. For UCSD, you should be able to do it through the “Contact Us” link on MyApplication. Like others said, there is a possibility you will be rescinded. I know a couple people last year who were rescinded, but there situations were a little bit different from yours (a friend of mine was accepted into UCB as a computer science major, and his GPA for his final term dropped below a 3.0 Also, a girl on this forum was rescinded from UC Davis for not passing a math class - but I think her situation was a little bit different from yours). What you should NOT do however is ignore the situation and hope that they just don’t notice it on your transcript. They will, and when they do, you will most definitely be rescinded if you do not report it to them first and explain yourself.

@ kan9160 I got accepted into UCLA with a 3.6 gpa but I slacked off in my math class and ended up getting a D. Math is a major prep class for me. I had already SIR’ed to LA so it was my only choice but I ended up getting rescinded :/. I could have easily picked another school if I knew / let them know in advance. So I stayed another year at CC and reapplied this year.

Thanks for sharing! I think my situation might be a bit different from yours (hopefully). Because I am in a quarter system school, winter is not the last quarter and UC may give me a chance to retake it in spring (hopefully again) since spring is the last quarter they considered. I hope this is what I am hoping for :(

I am a Chem major. I took it in spring and I told them I would retake it in summer before I transferred .I did and got an A but they didn’t bother .

I don’t feel like making a separate thread for my question, so I’ll ask here.

I failed 2 major pre-reqs a few semesters ago, but I’m retaking them and most likely get B’s in both classes (chem 1 and calc 2). Despite retaking the classes for higher grades, am I still screwed for UC’s?
