Failing an AP class

I’m a freshman in highschool and I decided to take AP Spanish. During the school year I lost my last grandparent and my parents were contemplating getting a divorce. It seemed like my life was falling apart. I ended up getting 3 As 2 Bs and one D in Spanish what should I do? Can I still get into a private university?

Is it possible to make up an AP class over the Summer? I feel so lost I don’t know what to do.

First off, I’m sorry about your loss. I hope things are alright now with you’re family.

This is definitely a unique circumstance. Your college apps will have a section to bring up issues that impacted your performance, which you should utilize.

Also, I would talk with your guidance counselor and Spanish teacher ASAP to see about maybe retaking the class or something similar.

^ Everything they said. In addition, colleges don’t usually care that much about freshman grades. They also really like to see improvement, like somebody not getting as good grades and then getting really good grades later so if you work hard the next few years, it can benefit you. Hope everything is okay now!
