i failed the AWPE… but im already taking ENG 300 at Sac City College over the summer. I know that to satisfy the Sub A requirement, i hv to take workload 57 ( which is ENG 100 at SCC), but do any of u guys know if taking ENG 300 will do since its a harder course?! also… if i really were to take Eng 100, would i still have to take the exam again?! thanks for your help. have a great day!

Check the UCD web site or ask the admissions office about substituting ENG 300. UCD just changed their policy for fall and changed the requirements for ENG 57 and passing the test. The new policy is that a passing grade in ENG 57 is acceptable for fulling the AWPE requirement (versus the previous policy of passing the test, no matter what class was taken).

thank you very much!

Will a community college course that is equivalent to Expository Writing (GE:W) fulfill the Subject A Exam requirement?

I suggest you just call UCD. From my experience, they are extremely helpful and have access to all the possible course work at community colleges in CA and should be able to easily tell you whether the course fulfills the requirement. I suspect they will be more than happy if kids opt to take an equivalent course during this summer to offset the additional demand for these courses this coming year.

use assist website

lots of my friends have taken engwr300 at SCC and plan on using that to substitute the writing placement. they said that the UCD accepts that and they skipped the test.
