Hey so I have to take the awpe exam on saturday May 9. The UC writing requirements website says that we can meet the writing requirements if "You have completed a transferable college English composition course with a grade of "C" or better (3 semester units or 4 quarter units). Is this true? So lets say I do not pass the awpe exam. But I received two A's both semesters for AP english lanauge composition my junior year in highschool and a B my first semester and a C my second semester for my senior year AP english literature. Does this mean I have met the writing requirement for UC's even if I fail the AWPE?

i think they mean community college credit. if ur ap score is a 3 or above, u miss the test as wel

Yeah, nets is right. You can’t get credit from an AP class unless you get a 3 or higher on the collegeboard exam.

oh ok thanks I was kinda confused about that.

Yep yep. Good luck Sat. I’m taking it too, hoping to be placed into WRIT 2!

Good luck also man. What if we dont pass the test? Do we take like a remedial english class?

Yeah. Writ 1. Not the end of the world, though. I just know I can pass it if I get a good prompt haha.

Do you guys know if it’s a particularly “tough” prompt/essay to write? Is it like the essays on the SAT’s?

Ah ap lit is tomorrow!

As far as I know, you read a passage and respond t a question about it.

So I guess it depends on the passage.

Graded just like the SAT I essay portion.

two readers grade 1-6
so your score is between 2-12
8 + passes you into WRIT 2

if there’s a 2 + point discrepancy between the two scorer’s scores, then a 3rd scorer also takes a look

So if you get an 8 or below do you take remedial eng? Is it the same as WRIT 1?

Arg that sucks so badly! I’m scared not to pass but I have an A in AP Lit T_T

“So if you get an 8 or below do you take remedial eng? Is it the same as WRIT 1?”

Yep

And I’m scared too. I’ve been in Honors English since freshman year…but didn’t do AP this year (even though I was recommended for it) so my writing can be strong if I put enough effort into it.

^ see I did too but I took AP Lit and I’m a horrible writer with a time limit. those 40 minute writes I die

“I’m a horrible writer with a time limit.”

same. I can do really well on an essay if I space it out over a long period of time. Like usually, I’ll just write a bunch of gibberish…come back in like 2 days…then refine it…come back the next day…refine some more…etc, etc.

I need those periods away from the essay.

Hence why I didn’t do AP.

haha, yeah we mostly did those 40 minute writes on out of class books we read and I got generally 3 or 4s with the highest as a 9 (the only thing that saved my grade is that a 1 is still a C-) T_T but analytical essays out of class, an easy 4+ out of 5.

Well good luck tomorrow. I’m glad Calc BC is over with. Now I just have Psych on Tuesday.

Good luck! I dono how well I did on calc. AB, the free response was a lot harder then we practiced in class T_T

^I thinnk I got around 70%+ on the FRQ, but like 50-60% on M/C…so I know I got a 3…probably a 4…and if it’s a SUPER easy curve I could possibly get a 5. I’m expecting a 4. Got a 3 on AB last year…but I think I got a 4-5 on the AB subscore this year anyways.

^ I donno, not totally sure. AHH WE SURVIVED THE ENGLISH LIT AP! I think I did ok, atleast a 3.
