Failing Dual Credit Grade on College Transcript.

I have a question about an F appearing on my transcript.

I earned a 3.0 GPA after attending Austin Community College and Texas State University during my freshman year of college. I attended Temple Junior College during the fall of my sophomore year in an attempt to save money while finishing my core curriculum. I was horrified when I received my transcript from TJC. My GPA was a 2.895, which was impossible because my lowest grade for the semester was a B.

After reviewing all of the course grades, I realized I had an F from a dual credit class I had “withdrawn” from four years prior. I had enrolled in/attended the TJC dual credit course through my high school in 2010. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with my (low but passing) grades so I withdrew from the course after speaking with my high school counselor.

When I contacted TJC about the F, I was informed that removing a failing grade from a transcript is against the school’s policy.

I do not understand why I did not receive a “W” on my transcript instead of an F.

Has anyone faced an issue similar to this and is there anything I can do? I have already retaken the course but I did so at another institution, therefore the dual credit course grade from TJC still stands.

Before I knew about the F my goal was to transfer to UT or A&M. Now I have no idea where to go. I made a 4.0 during the spring of my sophomore year but that only brought my GPA up to a 3.16.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the help!

W vs. F may depend on when you withdrew. Most colleges have a withdrawal date for which if you withdraw before you get an W. If you waited until right before finals, you would not get a W. Look online at their procedures. <a href=“http://www.templejc.edu/SES/Admission/SumReg/ImportantDates.aspx#refund/withdrawal”>http://www.templejc.edu/SES/Admission/SumReg/ImportantDates.aspx#refund/withdrawal&lt;/a&gt;

I would talk to your high school counselor about this.

Thank you!
