So I just got my AZmerit scores back(state standardized test for arizona) and I failed the writing section and was definitely not great in reading. However I have a 4.33 GPA (sophomore), and last year (freshman year) I got a 4 and a 5 on my AP exams and a 196 on the PSAT. I took honors english 9 last year and honors english 10 this year and I’m doing fine so I don’t think the test is accurately assessing my reading and writing skills. Will this go on my transcript/ affect my college admissions, and if so will my GPA/PSAT/SAT/AP scores counteract it?
You need to check with your GC about this.
I am a bad mother and I totally disregard any state based testing, as IMO it is irrelevant to my students but nice for the teachers. (I would think Ut and Az would be similar in stats and education). I had never considered that it would be on a transcript, not so far that I have seen. Just email your counselor and I expect she will be reassuring about this.
you’re right, Utah’s test and AZmerit are actually identical (designed by the same corporation)
One thing I read recently in the news was how UT was doing better on state testing, then in another story, how the most recent ACT scores had dropped. That really just sums up the wild west LOL.
