Will 3 C's on your transcript (Freshman-Senior year) ruin your chances dramatically for Ivy League?

honestly?

It will definately lower your chances perceptibly, I dont know about "dramatically" though.

sigh. *****, *,*

in what classes?

which ivy league schools? are you still in the top 10% of your class?

for harvard, it might be a deal-breaker. for columbia or penn, it isn't the end of the world

It depends on the classes. And, quite honestly, it could depend on which officer reads your application.

But unless you've got all As and 3 truly aberrational Cs, then it's a bit of problem. Tons of applicants without any Bs, much less Cs are rejected.

(And I would caution that Columbia and Penn are far from much easier to get into than Harvard. Cs can be deal breakers there, too.)

I hate to say this, but please gtfo for your own good. I am so happy I wasn't this stressed out freshman year.

Please don't take this personally, but quit stressing and live life.

quote

well, here's the data, you can draw your own conclusions:

Penn:
* 58% had h.s. GPA of 3.75 and higher
* 19% had h.s. GPA between 3.5 and 3.74
* 13% had h.s. GPA between 3.25 and 3.49
* 7% had h.s. GPA between 3.0 and 3.24
* 3% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99

Princeton (less selective than Harvard but Harvard doesn't release data):
* 78% had h.s. GPA of 3.75 and higher
* 13% had h.s. GPA between 3.5 and 3.74
* 6% had h.s. GPA between 3.25 and 3.49
* 3% had h.s. GPA between 3.0 and 3.24

so, in my opinion and by judging off this data, Harvard will have significantly more students with GPAs 3.75 and higher than a school like Penn will, and thus will have significantly less students with Cs on their transcripts
