Falcon Foundation Question

Is anyone on this board a previous Falcon Foundation scholar? Do you remember when you received your appointment to USAFA?

I just got back from Northwestern Prep and I’m getting pretty anxious.

Hang in there Bong. If I remember correctly, my son did not recieve his appointment until mid March......

Thank you. Waiting isn't a big deal...I've gotten pretty good at it from this entire process! I'm just happy everything is finally coming together and I'm getting the chance to attend USAFA.

Ditto on your new opportunities to develop patience! ;)

In the meantime, how did you like NW Prep? What's it like? Did you think the experience worth it?

Choosing to attend Northwestern Prep was the best decision I've made towards attending the Academy. I got waitlisted two weeks after I got my falcon foundation letter, so I felt like I needed to pursue the foundation option. I gave Mrs. Durbeck, the director of NWP, a phonecall and afterwards, I had made up my mind to leave for california to go to Prep.

I would say that NWP just has an incredible environment. Everyone that works there is truly passionate about what they do, and it comes through on the daily interaction. If you put in hard work there, you reap the rewards.

NWP was also a chance for me to increase my level of competitiveness. I was triple qual the year previous, but you can always strive to better. My SAT/ACT scores, GPA, more leadership experience... it all greatly improved. It is certainly a great place to come from.

Bong....You will also be pleased to know that a formal dinner for all Falcon Scholar's is held in the fall of the year. It's a chance to eat a nice meal and meet some great people.

My son would also say that it was the best decision he made to go to NWP. Having that one year puts you really ahead of the game, not only physically but mentally. As a doolie, he just celebrated his 20th BD, He is really looking forward to next year when he turns 21 as a 3rd class. And then to get a vehicle for his 2nd class year.

This is probably his biggest complaint right now, because they just can't pick up and go out to town. They have to try to borrow a car from the upper's.

He is ready for recognition to be over with and get home for Spring Break.

Good Luck to you.

Bong - my son is currently a Falcon at NMMI - I spoke w/his counselor last week - she said appointments should be out no later than first week of March - they like to let everyone know at the same time.
