my parents back home received a letter for me today: MIT rejection :-( that was the original dream from 5 yrs ago. i used to be addicted. berk replaced mit as my goal, but i didnt get into either. so far, i've been rejected from: mit transfer, mit LL summer internship, mit grad school, berk summer research program, berk grad school. i think i get it now that i'll never be that smart, heh.

update:
mit - cs - phd - rejected
berk - cs - masters/phd - rejected
uiuc - cs - phd - waiting
ucla - cs - masters - accepted (no word about funding)
columbia - cs - phd - waiting
duke - cs - phd - waiting
dartmouth - cs - phd - waiting
brown - cs - phd - waiting
bu - cs - phd - waiting
nyu - cs - phd - waiting
northeastern - cs - masters - waiting

You should know that getting rejected by Berk or MIT says nothing about your intelligence. Also, not going to MIT, Cal or wherever will mean less than you think for your future career, believe me.

Heh, ct9999, I am in a similar situation with CMU SCS. It's always been my dream school. Rejected for undergrad freshman admission, didn't get in undergrad transfer admission, and now rejected from graduate program.

Though as others have mentioned, it's not exactly an accurate reflection of our potential.

Thats a nice list of acceptances you have got there! I would say "sorry" about the Berkeley rejection, but with the list of other schools that accepted you, I'm guessing you don't give a rats patoot about Cal.

Congrats aft3rglow!
Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen a Berkeley CS acceptance on this thread yet.
Oh are you going to be visiting Princeton? I'm leaving in about 10 hours to head to Princeton. I might see you there if you are. Of course, we'll have no idea.

I thought I'd share this with you all, instead of keeping it bottled up. I don't think I've seen too many math posters, but there were a couple...

hey somerandomdude, isn't it funny how all the talented people this state produces flee after undergrad? i go to FSU, by the way. and i'm trying to get as far away from the south as possible.

i will be at princeton tomorrow, i also work there so i have a bit of an inside scoop. look around for me, my name's maria. (so to whoever referred to me as "him"... yeah....)

GSme and Phpguru
when will u make the decision which U to go?
you got so many great offers and a lot of others are on the waiting lists.
I was rejected by Princeton and Berkeley and no single offer until now. really worried!

Phpguru, I got an email from Stanford on March 2. It is from the EE dept, not the official graduate school, but it pretty much says I got in. But they said that they will make decisions about aid as they get funding...

passionxj, I am waiting to hear from Caltech. Also, Cornell will not make any funding decisions until the visit weekend. And Stanford is yet to tell me about aid. If I get no money from them, it either has to be Princeton or Yale. I will be able to make an informed decision only after all the schools tell me the whole story. So, yes it is a little selfish but schools put us in that situation. But if I get an acceptance from Brown, I will decline it rightaway.
