Fall '09 Transfer to UNC Chapel Hill

UNCBOUND,

I am a double science major, so yeah, my classes are pretty difficult. I would have thought this would carry some weight in my decision. Oh well, I guess my mediocre high school stats screwed me again. There is always next year.

ACCEPTED! On the fence deciding between depositing at Vandy or UNC while I wait for Georgetown decision…

Has anyone else heard anything? I still don’t have anything… it would be my luck that it fell on the floor somewhere and now it is under a filing cabinet!

im still waiting too.

I was accepted to UNC as a transfer this fall and I have several questions.

When can we register for classes?

How do I make a PIN? ( I think it is required so that I can register for classes)

Where can I go to see if I received financial aid?

Should I order a CCI laptop?

Thanks in advance! ^_^

You asked if you should order a CCI laptop - at those prices…I don’t think so.

has anyone gotten their transfer credit evaluation yet?

did any of you, that are still waiting, call or email the office to see why the decision was delayed?

Transfer evaluations should be here within the next week. I called a few days ago (last Friday) and they said within 7-10 days.

By a poll, how are everyones grade for this semester? Do you think UNC will rescind you if you get a 3.0-3.5, if you applied with a 3.9 GPA.

This semester was extremely demanding with five-main stream business courses and the new Dean (past Director of Admissions at Wharton) is really implementing this business school curve and the professors are giving everyone like 3.0-3.3 (Bs/B+s) for the final grades even if you deserve an A. I know people from last semester in one of my classes that got A’s on every test and A’s on the final project and wounded up getting a B in the course, which is very unfair, but the curve allows the professors to hand out only a select few A’s (meaning the students who are perfect and get complete 100s on all test). Even if you get solid A’s, 94-96 on test and project, your still most likely going to get a B.

I really don’t like the idea of curves to begin with.

Teach the material, test on the material you teach, and give people the grade they earn.

I don’t think they would rescind you unless you basically stopped attending, got all F’s, and maybe burned down a building in the process.

My understanding is that it’s a really rare thing for them to rescind admission unless there’s just a total collapse.

So going from a 3.94 to a 3.0-3.5 is not a reason fro them to rescind me? I’m just worried because I would not want to get rescinded at all since I put so much effort into getting in, working my ass off, and this semester I got really unlucky with professors and the new Dean.

I’m not failing, just going from straight solid-A’s to a few A-'s and B+/B’s with the possibility of a B-. So a GPA anywhere from 3.2-3.6

if you guys want to check your transfer evaluation, it is online at student central under
Graduation Requirements Advising System

Bruins,

According to the Admissions blog it has to be drastic and she also said if your worried then to give them a call and explain the situation, I personally think it would only be a problem if you withdrew from a course or were getting lower then a C

you aren’t going to get your offer rescinded, don’t be silly. I went from a 3.91 to a 3.3 my last semester and although it was stupid of me, it wasn’t even questioned.

Sweet. glad to meet all of you next semester. what CSTOP is everyone doing?

the one in August

When I log in to studentcentral.unc.edu it says I am not eligible to register for classes. Anyone know when/what has to take place before we are eligible to register? Have any of you registered yet?

yeah so i just got accepted a couple weeks ago. I just came back from a campus visit this past weekend. has anyone heard about their financial aid yet? I’m sorry if this has already been brought up, but i haven’t read through all the posts yet.
