Sorry to those who click the thread thinking that the book list is up. I wanted to start this thread, so if someone sees it posted, they can tell the rest of us.

Thanks!

Bump, bump, bump. I also want to know when the book lists will be posted. Are they usually posted prior to the start of the school year?
And what are the best sites to buy cheap and used books? I've heard of half.com...

IIRC, they are posted in August, so there are only a few weeks to frantically place used book orders online.

the descriptions of 102's that were handed out to all the lil TO kids at orientation have book lists... are these accurate?

They are tentative and pretty accurate, but there will most likely be changes before the semester starts. The book list that will be posted on OASIS may be different. On top of that, you will get another syllabus the first session saying exactly what books you will read. Sometimes the professor (not just TO, but any course) decides last-minute that you won't need to buy this or that book.

The USC bookstore website says the fall book list will be posted to OASIS 8/13.

So we should pretty much buy all our books on campus after school starts and classes have begun?

Books bought at the USC Bookstore (with a few exceptions, such as plastic shrink-wrapped books that were opened) can be returned up until September 14. I checked, and September 14 is also the deadline of dropping a class without a "W." So, you can try buying the book online, and when you get that book, you can return the one you bought on campus to the USC Bookstore. There are, however, two disadvantages with this. As I might have hinted before, absolutely new books (such as those in plastic shrink wrap), cannot be returned unless the shrink wrap was not torn open. Secondly, what happens if the book you ordered online or elsewhere does not show up before the USC Bookstore refund deadline? You might end up with two copies of the same textbook, unable to return either one. So yeah, I would exercise some caution about this. If a certain course requires a lot of books, then I would look at that course's syllabus and/or ask the professor in what order the books will be used. If the book is to be used later in the semester, you can order later on in the semester without having to worry about getting it in time. So, as you can see, your decision to buy books at the USC Bookstore or elsewhere seems to depend a lot on the September 14 deadline.

As always, thanks for the information, protokurios. You always seem to be one step ahead when it comes to these things.

8/13! I can't believe it's going to be posted that late!

wow 8/13 is pretty late. but that does give about 2 weeks to order online
and the first week of school doesn't REALLY require much textbook use.
