Fall 2007 Chances at UCLA/Berkeley. Economics major.

I plan to attend UCLA in the fall of 2007.

Major: Economics
Current Gpa: 3.27 (upward trend)
Approx. Gpa by end of fall 2006: 3.40
Extra Curriculars: Two semesters of being the president of the CCSF Breakin' Fridays Club, teach dance at the Beacon After-school Program at the high school level, Member of the honors program
Residency: California resident

IGETC and all major requirements will be met by the end of the spring of 2007.

What are my chances at UCLA and Berkeley? I consider UCSD a sure thing.

PS. In case you didn't notice, I am a community college student.

anyone have feedback

Well, the California community colleges are considered the feeder schools for transfers to the UCs--so you have a shot. Generally, the better the UC, the higher the GPA needs to be. I think for UCLA generally somewhere around 3.3 to 3.4 is the cutoff for acceptance from the community colleges. The reason this spread is a little unclear is because it depends on how difficult your classes were, and it depends on what major you want to go into at UCLA. And it even depends on how many people go into and drop out of these majors on a year-to-year basis. (and even how many freshman out of those accepted decided to attend the school each year). Basically they just try to balance out the availability. Keep in mind UCLA gets about 13,000 to 17,000 transfer applications a year, so it is competitve.

Good luck to you--and let us know your results.

3.40? reach maybe....try to improve it
