Sounds like Seminole Sensation Week will be a lot shorter this year.

i know. that's too bad. we were there on the last weekend of it lthis past august and it was a lot of fun. Hopefully they will do something next august as well I am sure they will

something seems wierd with that opening date, I always thought they opened on saturday's and i can't imagined a shortened seminole sensation week.

i agree, but that's what the web site says... for now.

Florida State University Housing - Undergraduate Housing Rental Rates

None of the other state schools had 9 days of pre-semester activities so perhaps FSU has decided to be more in line with the other universities. I guess this could be a cost cutting measure.

i emailed housing over the weekend to ask if they knew when the dorms would open for summer c. I explained that we want to start making our travel plans from new york (flights etc) asap.

just got an email back. dorms for summer C 2008 will open 9am wednesday June 25. Classes begin monday June 30th.

Question:

I really would rather not pay the 225 deposit for housing, considering that I am waiting for UF's decision and I am confident that I will be admitted.

My question is if I don't pay and I wait until February 16th (the day after the UF decision), will there still be some housing available?

Responses needed quickly because I only have 4 days left on my priority :/

The one thing in your favor is that the next round of notifications is Feb 20, so once you hear on the 15th, I would get a number if your need one. By Feb 16, My guess is that your number could be 3000. By Feb 21 it could be 6000. You will get all but $50 back. Might not be a bad investment. If you are superstitious, pay the deposit, then you won't need it ;)

last year i applied in feb and my priority number was 3400

I just want to make sure that I will get a dorm. Preference isn't important to me as long as it isn't a triple. With ~3000 priority number, will I still be able to find a double?

last year i had a friend who had a 5000 priority number and got into a double in degraff, but last year most people had no clue what degraff was and that it was new so this year you probably end up on the westside with a 3000 priority number.,meaning salley, smith, etc.

And one little comment...last year i was confident i was going to UF, i had a 28 act score and 3.5 uw gpa and a 5.2 wieghted gpa, and an ib diploma candiate, and i got flat out rejected so i'm glad that you feel confident about your chances but UF is so unpredicatable that I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket.

Thanks for the advice guys, but for different reasons I'm going to hold out until the 15th. It's just a waiting game again..

Vincanity

I hope you get into UF. Good luck, but know that if for some reason you don't ... FSU is a great place as well.

Thanks nycollegedad, I appreciate it.

It's because of people like you, parent2noles, SSobick (UF forum), and many more that my college application process has been a rather delightful experience.

Vincanity,

I must warn you that once you become a "gator", I won't be able to be as nice to you.... lol

By that point, I'm not so sure it'll hurt too much :P

Hang in there, 2-15-08 will be here before you know it. i hope its a good day for you!
