fall 2010 begin to apply?

Anyone know when the fall 2010 online application is going to on the penn state site.

Ok, this is what my dad told me, so there is a significant chance I am wrong. Anyway, he said September 1 the online application goes up.

I was told by PSU’s admission office early August

Yep, early AUgust. That’s when I submitted my app when I applied.

It was early August last year, but as long as you apply before the priority deadline, I don’t think it matters when you apply. Applying in August IMO gives you no more preference over those that apply in October or even November. PSU is NOT ‘true’ rolling admissions in that its a first come first serve as long as you meet a certain criteria. They are rolling in that they start releasing decisions after a certain date (this past year it was Nov 1) and then release them in batches -as opposed to schools that release ALL decisions on sya March 15. Penn State also seems to release decisions earlier to those that are clear-cut yesses or no. Reading back through posts of people notified in November; it seemed as though they were the people with really high stats, or lows stats that were deferred to a branch. I guess you can apply early, but I don’t really think it offers an advantage.

@shaerandolph, does your dad work at the Penn State admission office or something if you knew that? Just asking.

cbd, that is actually not the case. i submitted my app at the end of august last year and was accepted on november 4. so i would suggest submitting it early. you may hear in november, you may not. but if you don’t submit until november, then you’re pretty much guaranteed to not hear until later

^^^actually, swoopes2, your experience did sort of follow what I said-- they started releasing decisions on Nov 1,but it seemed as though only the clearcut ‘yes’ or ‘no’ got their decision that early–at a 4.10 GPA and 2210 on your SATs/33 ACTs I’d say you were a clear cut yes. Many, many other people reported applying very early, in August and September, and did not hear back until mid to late January. I obviously don’t know everyones stats/vs timeframe of application vs timeframe of decision, but that was my impression from following the posts this year.

yeah i applied in early august and i wasn’t accepted until jan. 27th…my gpa at the time was 3.49 but i scored a 30 on the ACT which put me on the border; thus delaying my decision

We were up for a visit/tour last week and the presenter said September 1st.

Penn States Website says: The Fall 2010 electronic application for undergraduate admission will be available September 1, 2009.
