Fall 2010

How does a schedule like this sound for my first quarter at UCLA?
Math 31B, Chem 20A, and possibly a Neuroscience GE class (either Brain Made Simple: Neuroscience for the 21st Century, or Neuroscience and Psychology of Art and Biology of Aesthetics).
If anyone who has taken these classes can rate, on a scale of 1-10, the difficulty and workload of each class, that'd be great. All comments will be appreciated! Thank you!

Average .

Not a bad schedule. Math and chem should each be like 3-5 hours of extra work every week. Can’t speak for neuroscience though. But I imagine it won’t be too bad.

Has the schedule of classes for Fall 2010 been released already?

It comes out during the summer if I remember correctly

June 7th …

Do the incoming freshmen class sign up for classes after everyone else’s second pass or first pass? I forgot…

Looks like 2nd passes start around the same time as the first orientation sessions.

Looks nearly identical to my first quarter. It’s hard to rate the workload because it depends heavily on the professor. But you’ll need to do a fair bit of studying regardless. If you took AP BC Calc in high school, 31B shouldn’t be too bad since it’s just like the second semester of that class. If you only took AB Calc, as was the case for me, it’ll be a little tougher since you’ll be learning new concepts. Chemistry 20A is an interesting class…don’t come in expecting it to be like AP Chem, because it’s nothing like it. Alot more conceptual and barely any calculations…I liked it. Good luck!

divad…calm down. your new class LITERALLY doesnt start for another 4 and a half months. go have fun, enjoy the rest of your senior year, get laid, go to the beach…worry about this stuff later. i promise you you’re not getting ahead thinking about this now.

to answer your question, math chem and a GE is pretty standard for every incoming science major freshman.

If you have Scerri for Chem 20A, just pay attention during lecture and go over his expensive course reader starting a few days before the midterm and finals and you’ll ace his class.

I hate math and am hating this quarter, the only math class I’ll have to take, so I can’t give an unbiased opinion about 31B.

All in all, three classes aren’t too bad.
