<p>The quarter officially begins on september 20th but instructions begins on the 23rd. Since I live in norcal, i was hoping to move in later rather than earlier...is there anything i would miss if i would choose to move in closer to the 23rd?</p>

<p>On Thursdays, my schedule is a discussion for Chem 20A, a lecture for History 3A, and then a discussion for Bioengineering 10.</p>
<p>Am I supposed to go to those discussions on my first day even though I wouldn’t have been to any lectures for them yet?</p>
<p>You are to go to discussion, regardless of whether or not you had a lecture or not.</p>
<p>The only exception is if your TA or professor emails you ahead of time to not attend discussion. Some professors/TAs do and some don’t. Some make you simply attend to do something stupid like take roll and present your name and major and then leave. While others actually give you the syllabus and assignments already…wack I know.</p>
<p>And lastly, if you do go to discussion, and the TA isn’t there for the first 10 minutes or os, everyone just leaves :)</p>
<p>There’s a good chance it will be cancelled. If not, there won’t be many people there and they won’t do anything substantive. Attendance doesn’t matter for those (south campus) discussions anyway.</p>
