When you apply for housing, you can put down preferences for your suitemates. If you want people who are quiet, studious, and don’t tolerate alcohol for example, you can put that.

Why did your mom want you to put Revelle as your top choice?

@$KingsElite$: Well, Revelle is the college that most Pre-Med students go into because it covers most of their requirements for Med school, so it fits into my major as Pre-Pharm as well. I didn’t want to go in because of its overwhelming competitiveness and because it also means having to take extra classes to cover GEs, such as a foreign language, which I do not want to take because 4 years of spanish is enough for me to deal with. Sorry, but foreign languages isn’t my strongest point :(. That, and I heard about the poor old Revelle dorms that aren’t so appealing to me.

my mom went to UCSD over 20 years ago and said Revelle GE’s were hell then…not much has changed…

Based on people’s opinion, it seems that Revelle is the hell college…I heard the same for ERC, but with newer dorms. Would anyone like to tell me about life in Muir college and their dorms? Actually, can someone give me a run on all the colleges? It can be brief. I mostly want to hear about dorm life for each college since I have a somewhat idea of what kind of academics each college focuses on.

Google is our friend ^_^

Crap after reading those I am REALLY second guessing putting ERC as first guuuh.

I picked (in order from #1 to #6): Muir, Revelle, ERC, Warren, Sixth, Marshall.

I wish I could switch Sixth and Revelle now :[

D: sorry to barge into the conversation. but does anyone else think it’s weird that they let us “schedule” our classes on tritonlink?

I can do that too…it’s probably just a glitch…

heyyy ERC isn’t that bad!! especially if you get Africa Hall… ahaha in addition to being closest to the dining hall, we are literally right next to the Village (transfer buildings) and have access to all their goodies (most notably the convenient store better than Goody’s imo). plus we have a main bus stop right there behind the building + close shuttle stops (I stand for the good and lazy). we also have a balcony facing the ocean… there has been occasions when I’ve seen the half the building out there at the same time, taking photos of the beautiful sunset view (:

also, ERC has very recently cut its infamous six quarter MMW writing req to five quarters. that doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you experience MMW, you will feel the same celebration we did.

I honestly love ERC and the people I’ve met here. people can continue debating colleges but there will ALWAYS be something to complain about or compare to that of another college. Muir is often noted for its few GE’s, for example, but I cannot tell you HOW MUCH griping I’ve heard about Muir writing, its lame readings, the inability to get an A, etc etc. and being in a certain college does not limit your entire life to it… I used to have a friend who was in Muir and pretty much lived in ERC cuz he visited so much LOL.

tl;dr all colleges have their ups and downs. you will have to work on some GE you don’t like no matter what. just live with it and make the most of it :)

@rainsonata

Oh ok. I don’t see how it’s any more competitive though. The only class you would have been taking with just Revelle students is the writing course.

@Laurennn123

I agreed more with the first link you posted rather than the second one. Honestly guys, the most important part of the colleges is the GEs you’ll be taking. Obviously you’ve already picked your colleges, so that doesn’t help you much at this point.

@Everybody that posts on this forum

Be careful where you get your information from. If you’re getting your information from a high schooler who doesn’t know anything about UCSD who got their information from a high schooler who doesn’t know anything about UCSD, there is the chance that it could be wrong. I even hear really ignorant things coming from students here that makes me think “Where the hell did they get that idea from?”. Like seriously total misconceptions about the university based in zero truth. I’m just amazed at what people think sometimes.

Hey guys, I am really worried because I totally forgot my application ID on the myapplication website. I created an account like 3 months ago and now I dont remember, I tried using the general UC app. ID but it didn’t work! what should I do?! It won’t even email my ID, or atleast I can’t find where they do that!!!

@pinkberry wow…that actually helped a lot I guess I’m just scared of the GEs and second guessing my decisions. Thank you!

Well this is all hypothetical anyways…we need to get in first LOL.

sdesai11,
try resetting your password…that’s what i did because i forgot all my information, too. After I answered the security question, my ID number was listed on the page, and I reset my pw.

@sdesai11, look through your past email (the one you put on the UC app) and UCSD will have emailed you a letter/number combo. I received mine on 1/26

am I the only one who is still checking the admissions site ???

I did too, leakers. At least 10 times today. Haha.

@AtticLights no problem for me, UCSD was a very spontaneous decision (as in breaking off a plan I had for over 2 years in that final month for turning in SIR), and the stories I had heard of ERC GE’s seriously terrified me. In reality, MMW can be work-heavy, but it isn’t so difficult to do well as long as you stay on top of that work.

one last thing, remember that no matter what anybody says about all the colleges, no one attends all six and can truly give an honest comparison!

yea I tried checking Laurennn but they only sent me an email, around the same time, with the 7 digit UC code not the 9 digit code theyre looking for, and like the idiot I am I only wrote down my password… is there a way they can email my ID or i can call them or something?
