Perhaps you could discuss the grade with the professor and seek a change, if your very worried about it. Sometimes professors can be completely different people during office hours, and if the points were close enough, s/he may be a little forgiving.
I suppose I’m lucky, my cc does flat grades, not +/-'s.
Silver lining: At least it wasn’t a B.

I’m applying! I have no idea what my chances are, though. I’ll be 30 this spring and I have long breaks in my educational history. My cumulative GPA is 3.6, but if you only count the last 5 years, it’s a 4.0. I have lots of work experience and varied interests, but no volunteer experience. I’m planning on registering as a premed if I get in. Do I have any hope?

If that 4.0 represents a fair number of classes, and you write an excellent essay, I’d say you’ve got a decent shot. It’s all about the essay.

Hey guys

First post on here, but I’ve been scouring CC for a couple of years ^^, very helpful sight

I too am applying to GS for Fall 2012, even though I’ll be 19 this year, but I am a non-traditional student. I currently have a 3.8 GPA and some clubs. Nothing too stellar

Anyway, Good Luck to everyone on here, hopefully they accept us all haha

Hey guys I am applying to GS as a transfer student.
Prior Navy (6 years)
Deployed three times
Nominated by the Secretary of the Navy to attend the US Naval Academy (USNA)
Currently hold a 3.14 GPA as an International Relations major at USNA

Good Luck to all!

glennrd, what did you do in the Navy?

I was an OS2

Nice! Well, best of luck to you

My Application is in!!! best of luck to everyone!!!

I called them and they said my application is under review. LET THE WAITING COMMENCE!

When I called last week, they told me the first decisions would be sent out March 5th.

Really? I really hope I’m a part of that batch. I got accepted into my safety which is an alright school, so it’s not the end of the world if I don’t get accepted to CU - but gosh it would be awesome if I did haha

Did you apply EA FuzzyDunlop?

really? when did you guys submit?

Yes, I applied EA. I had all of my stuff submitted by February 3rd.

Hello everyone!

I am applying RD, since I won’t be able to make the March 1st deadline
A little background info about myself: I first went to college in 2001, but had to leave in 2002. (Life happened, hard). After that, I worked in the hospitality and nightlife industry until 2009. In 2011, I graduated from a one year ultrasound program, where my gpa was a 2.76. I did excellent during my clinicals, though. I am presently in a CC in NY and have been attending part time since 2008. My gpa as of now is 3.35 and I have two Ws on my transcript (life happened again). I also volunteer at a major hospital in the city. I know my numbers are nothing to write home about, but I will still give GS a shot! (Yes, I know how incredibly competitive GS is). I know I’m smart, but also have been incredibly lazy and unmotivated. I am finally going to pursue a bachelor’s degree, and nothing (or no one) is going to stop me this time around.

I am currently working on my autobiographical essay now, and am having a bit of a hard time. Writing about oneself is always the hardest thing to do, no??? It sure feels that way!

Anyways, good luck to everyone here!!! I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s journey :-)

P.S. As far as my SAT scores go, they expired. SAT scores expire after 8 years of taking them. So, I will have to take the “entrance” exam that GS offers. Since I graduated HS in 2001 (I’m 28 btw), I doubt GS will put THAT much importance on my grades. (I was an A-/B+ student).

@Fuzzy Awesome, good luck with everything

Hey Antika!

I hear you about the autobriography! I literally spent my entire Christmas holiday + some weeks writing and perfecting it (Think 4:00 am in the morning, cold coffee in my mug, drone stare at the laptop screen haha). Just takes some writing and re-writing and you’ll have it done :). What do you plan on majoring in?

I have 4 1/2 years in the Marine Corps, 2100 SAT 3.7 High School GPA and I am applying. I hope I am in the March 5th batch of letters. All my stuff was submitted by Jan 12th, but my fee waiver wasn’t ran in the system until like a week ago.

I am in Afghanistan right now, and I am trying to schedule a school visit (I got into Dartmouth as a traditional student) and it is a pain to try to schedule right now.

Good luck everyone though.

Fritz, go to Dartmouth. Don’t even think twice about GS.

I tend to agree with Jan, provided:
- You don’t mind Hanover
- You don’t mind being part of a smaller group of vets & non-traditional (Dartmouth is improving, but had only ~16 vets on campus vs hundreds at Columbia)
- There’s not some compelling program or something at Columbia

“Fritz, go to Dartmouth. Don’t even think twice about GS.”

Why? Better financial aid?

I chose GS over Cornell, provided it was Cornell ILR and there were no financial discrepancies in attending either school.
